The 2013 Marching Panther Invitational is a high school field marching competition. Bands will be grouped into classes based on band size and school size. This will be an afternoon and evening event, with trophies and plaques given for outstanding drum majors, color guard, drumlines, and whole bands in each class for the parade and field show competitions.
Our coverage of this 27th annual incarnation of the marching band festival at Washington Community High School near Peoria, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 7, can be found here. Right now, 15 bands are scheduled to perform, beginning at 4 p.m.
Coverage on Illinois Marching Online can be found here, and it’s bound to include more up-to-date information than we can provide. I know, for one thing, there’s a map on Illinois Marching Online.
Last year’s festival was well covered by a reporter and photographer from the Peoria Journal-Star. Many of the pictures are still online, here, and the accompanying report is available here, except the Journal-Star has now instituted a pay wall. So, if you want to do a lot of reading for free, keep count of how many times you hit the Journal-Star’s website.
