Children of multi-wired, multi-connected Generation C

Today’s preschoolers are members of “Generation C,” the connected society. They have always known a world where social media and apps are an integral part of life. How much do they know, and how much do they really need to know at such a young age?

That’s a question asked by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, and some of the center’s work about this complex issue is described in an infographic posted below from a resource locator for people who want to pursue degrees in early childhood education.

And when we say “preschoolers,” we mean really young toddlers and infants. The website babies.co.uk found that around 1 in 7 of about 1,000 parents surveyed in the UK let their babies spend four or more hours every day with a smartphone in their hands. At this age, they’re only awake for about 10 hours a day!
