The marching band from Alan B Shepard High School in Palos Heights, directed by Christopher Pitlik, played the marching band in a video parody that doubles as a promo for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.
Check out the short sequence in the preview at 2:18 through 2:20. The marching band footage lasts about a second, but the orange and black colors of the south suburban band are on proud display.
The video, which promotes the Chicago Major League Soccer team, is entitled “Mike Magee’s Day Off,” a spoof on the classic hit from 1986, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Just watch it, and you’ll see what I mean.
The video also features New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry, former US Men’s National Team coach Bruce Arena, US Women’s National Team players Hope Solo and Sydney LeRoux, and Judah Friedlander from the television show “30 Rock.”
A little cross-pollination between the arts and athletics is just the kind of cooperation and support that builds strong communities around schools.
