Chromebook shipments pass iPads for schools

More Chromebooks than iPads were shipped to US schools in the third quarter of 2014, the Financial Times reports, here via Business Insider.

That’s the first time that’s ever happened, the Financial Times noted, and this growth should be a “major concern for Apple.”

Business Insider credited the Chromebook’s low price tag, even when compared with a typical educational or volume discount on the iPad, for the flipping of fortunes at the highest echelon.

Even the cheapest iPad, after all, goes for between $300 and $400, while Chromebooks can be had for about $200, the article noted.
