A female teacher was fired from a private school in Baltimore upon being charged with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old male student while she was employed during the 2016-17 school year at a private school in New Jersey, WMAR-TV (ABC affiliate, Baltimore) reports.

Alyssia Reddy, 28, allegedly had sexual intercourse with a student from the Pennington School at a site in Pennsylvania earlier this year. Pennington is a private school, steeped in the Methodist tradition, located in Pennington, New Jersey, about 10 miles from Princeton.
Ms Reddy, until she was fired Friday, taught at St Paul’s School for Girls, in the Upper School, a college-prep school for girls from many walks of life in North Baltimore. Given a long history, the school remains true to its Episcopal values of respect, integrity, and spiritual growth.
Baltimore County police assisted those from Solebury Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in arresting Ms Reddy Friday. She was charged with multiple crimes: institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, and corruption of a minor. She’s being held in Baltimore City, pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
In a letter to St Paul’s families obtained by WMAR-TV, Penny Evins, head of school, said Ms Reddy was hired before officials at the school knew about what had allegedly happened between her and a student at her former school.
“This news is deeply disturbing to all of us and saddens us,” Ms Evins wrote. “The safety and well-being of all our students is our top priority. It is our most sacred trust.”
