Hurricane Sally made landfall early Wednesday morning near Mobile, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle, officially as a Category 2 hurricane, although that classification might be upped after the National Hurricane Center analyzes more data from the storm.

Hurricane Laura, at the end of August, left a trail of destruction across Louisiana and Texas, killing at least six people and battering the areas around Lake Charles.
Students at Northlake Christian School in Covington, Louisiana, hopped into action right after Laura hit, gathering supplies, water, and food for hurricane victims and making the three-hour trek to Lake Charles, reports Jessica Ferchland in The Growl student newspaper.
“It’s been a constant flow of people,” one student was quoted as saying about the relief effort. “Their first answer to, ‘What can I get you?’ is always, ‘a house.’ When asked if they had eaten, one man said, ‘I ain’t eaten in two days.'”
Ms Ferchland said the whole effort, which is expected to continue for Hurricane Sally victims, reminds her of a verse from the Old Testament:
If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. —Isaiah 58:10
