Md. to host 2 more Q&A sessions on Common Core

-

The Maryland State Department of Education has announced the addition of two informational sessions at which school leaders will describe the Common Core and answer questions about the standards. Note that questions must be submitted in writing.

The sessions appear to be a continuation of work begun earlier this school year, with informational sessions at four locations throughout the state. This will bring to six the total number of Common Core informational sessions brought to Marylanders by the state’s education department.

The first of the two added sessions will be in Allegany County, to accommodate residents in western Maryland, and the second will take place in Calvert County, in the southern portion of the state. Both sessions will begin at 7 PM and are expected to last about an hour and a half.

  • Thursday, Nov 14, Compton Science Center at Frostburg State, 101 Braddock Rd, Frostburg
  • Monday, Nov 25, Huntingtown High School, 4125 North Solomons Island Rd, Huntingtown

A representative from the Maryland PTA will be on hand at both sessions, along with Dr Lillian M Lowery, state superintendent of schools. In addition to a view from the top, both forums have promised to provide a teacher’s perspective about the learning standards known as the Common Core.
