Dow Jones Industrial Average breaks 16,000

-

Economic and business classes have some news of their own to talk about today:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 16009.99 on Thursday, Nov 21, closing above 16,000 for the first time in history, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The journal reported that the continued rise in stock prices is being fueled by steady optimism about the recovering economy and low interest rates.

USA Today concurred, here, writing that the “Dow has been propelled higher by a combination of solid corporate earnings, a steadily strengthening economy and the Fed’s easy-money monetary policy.”

The paper featured a video segment entitled “Dow over 16,000: Time to cheer? Worry? Chill?”

What do you think?
