Chicago Air & Water Show

The Blue Angels returned to the Chicago Air & Water Show, Aug 16 and 17, after missing it last year due to federal budget cuts, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Showers and thunderstorms were in the forecast, with a 30 percent chance that the air show would be rained upon. It didn’t happen Saturday, and the Blue Angels, along with several other high-flying stunt groups, entertained the crowds from downtown to the beaches on the near north side.

This was the 56th annual show of its type. Media were able to preview the show on Thursday, and Sun-Times photographers Brian Jackson and Alex Wroblewski have some great shots, here.

In a few of those pictures, with the red-and-white checkered Team Oracle plane, a student from Bronzeville Military Academy in Chicago, Malik Baker, is shown flying with Sean Tucker of Team Oracle and a couple of Blue Angels over Chicago.
