Usually when a newspaper sends a photographer to cover a high school football game, that photographer sits out during halftime. I never have, personally, because what happens at halftime is often more photogenic than the game itself—and it represents at least an equal amount of hard work on the part of dedicated students at the home school.
We would therefore like to note this shift in coverage in the right direction as we resume normal coverage of the marching band season on the section’s front page. In covering the football game last night between Washington and Limestone, photographers from the Peoria Journal-Star struck a beautiful balance between the marching band and the football teams.
The halftime show even had fireworks, which you’ll see in at least one photo on “The Snap,” which is the Peoria Journal-Star’s photo blog, here.
