Sudanese woman who wore pants spared lashes

A female journalist in her 30s was tried and found guilty in a Sudanese court, the BBC reports.

She was accused of wearing pants, which violates the Islamic dress code for women. She could have received up to 40 lashes, but the court decided only to fine her about $200.
