We have created one of our famous ad hoc reports with a few statistics for all the football teams in Illinois that are undefeated.
It’s “ad hoc” so it will update automatically throughout the season if you want to bookmark it. Only teams that have won at least three games will be listed, which means it starts this week, as all the results for undefeated teams are in at this time.
The complete report can be viewed here
It was inspired by a story in the Chicago Sun-Times last week about Aurora Christian High School, last year’s Class 3A state champion, which after last week had a differential of +122 points, and a points-given-up statistic of 0. Aurora Christian is still on top in that regard, now with a top-ranked differential of +174.
After week 3, the top 10 teams on the list of undefeated teams are
- Aurora Christian in Aurora, +174
- Central-Southeastern Coop in Camp Point, +153
- Rochelle in Rochelle, +141
- Elmwood-Brimfield Coop in Elmwood, +138
- Whitney Young in Chicago, +133
- Clifton Central in Clifton, +132
- Marian in Woodstock, +130
- Highland in Highland, +124
- Mooseheart in Mooseheart, +123
- Mt. Carmel in Chicago, +123
Also, because it’s an ad hoc report, it’s probably a little sloppy. The point is to produce it quickly, sort of on-the-fly. It doesn’t deal with ties at all, in fact, simply assigning the next ranking based on a secondary sorting of the teams.
As the report shows, 126 teams are 3-0 after week 3 in Illinois. Not all of them will make it to the end, and when they lose a game, their name will disappear off this report. A few teams in the state are 2-0 after week 3. If these teams win a third game this season, their name will be added to the report.
