I am pleased to announce the development and deployment of a new project in our present array of SLICE Data Projects, this one about the Bands of America organization, based in Indianapolis but with a reach that extends across the nation. According to the group’s website, the organization has been “creating, providing, and expanding positively life-changing experiences through music since 1976.” That’s 40 years now and running.
In honor of this historic celebration, we have begun compiling data, which we hope you find much more useful than school report card data or standardized test data, listing the winners and best high school marching bands to take part in Bands of America events.
Data on the Bands of America site are incomplete, and some links are broken from the published records. We are, however, conducting research at this time to fill in some of the holes in the data and are optimistic that data will be complete by the end of the calendar year.
