Anne Arundel County Police arrested a 17-year-old boy armed with a loaded handgun outside Glen Burnie High School in Maryland this afternoon, the Capital Gazette reports.

School resource officers responded to a citizen report of two males walking outside near the school building south of Baltimore at 3:20 PM. The SROs stopped the two teens off campus and discovered the loaded handgun. Police said in a release they arrested him without incident.
The unarmed male was released from the scene because he was found to be unarmed. Police did not say whether the two males were students at the school or release any information about a possible motive.
WBFF-TV (FOX affiliate) reported this was the second incident at Glen Burnie High involving a weapon in a week. One student sliced another student’s stomach with a pocket knife Wednesday. The assailant was arrested, and the victim’s injuries were characterized as minor.
“I want to be clear that at this time we have no information that the student with the gun had any intention to do any harm to anyone,” Principal Scott McGuire wrote in a letter to school families. “This investigation is still very much active, however, and we are continuing to learn information. If you have any information that can assist us or the police, please inform us immediately.”
