Police in Flossmoor, Illinois, are investigating reports that a male student allegedly assaulted a female student Monday at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, ABC 7 Chicago and The Chicago Tribune report.
The male student was taken into custody and later released into the care of his father. H-F High School District 233 officials told families Tuesday they are cooperating with authorities. Police have said detectives are working with school administrators and the two students’ families.
Students were reportedly working in small groups in the school’s theater Monday morning when the alleged assault occurred.
The students’ names were not released, but District 233 Superintendent Scott Wakeley and H-F Principal Clinton Alexander sent a letter home to parents. “We understand that members of our community want details and answers immediately. However, we must allow an investigation and law enforcement process to take place. We also must respect the legal privacy rights of the minors involved,” the Tribune quoted the letter as saying.
