Digital Harbor HS closed after vandalism

Classes were canceled Monday at Baltimore’s Digital Harbor High School because vandals broke more than 50 windows and destroyed other school property over the weekend when no students or teachers were in the building, CBS News and WBAL-TV (NBC affiliate) report.

Classes resumed this morning, even as cleanup efforts continued.

“What we don’t want is the school students to come to see a school that is broken. We want them to come to see the wholeness that they left … the wholeness that they returned to,” WBAL-TV quoted City School Police Chief Jeffrey Shorter as saying.

“We immediately jumped right into action trying to get it fixed. It’s all about the kids. You just have to make sure the kids are safe. And, as well, the faculty,” a worker at a repair shop told the station.

According to WBAL-TV, Baltimore Police are still seeking information about who the vandals were.
