Authorities said Michael Joseph Duran, of Aliso Viejo, California, carried on a sexual relationship with the minor between 2024 and 2025 while working at Dana Hills High School. Investigators were alerted by a mandated reporter in August, leading to Duran’s arrest.

Duran also coached with a San Juan Capistrano club team, SoCal Fins, and deputies believe there may be additional victims. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of oral copulation with a minor under 18.

Dana Hills High School, in the Capistrano Unified School District, had an enrollment of 1,805 students for the 2023-2024 school year.
