The Illinois elementary school Scholastic Bowl comes to Peoria on May 9. Teams have advanced through sectionals and now meet for the state championship of the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) at the Peoria Civic Center.

State finalists in Class A are
- Normal (Metcalf)
- Jacksonville (Our Saviour)
- Columbia (Immaculate Conception)
- Effingham (St. Anthony)
- Champaign (Next Generation)
- Onarga (Iroquois West)
- Ottawa (Wallace)
- Peoria Academy
And competing in Class AA are
- Lincolnshire (Daniel Wright)
- Bolingbrook (Jane Addams)
- Minooka
- Bloomington Jr High School
- Dunlap Middle School
- Washington (Beverly Manor)
- Danville (North Ridge)
- Chatham (Glenwood)
At the state finals, teams play three rounds each. Each class is divided into two pools of four teams. The winners of each pool meet for the championship of their respective class while runners-up in each pool play for third-place honors.
Admission, which is good for the entire tournament, is $5 for adults and $2 for seniors and elementary or middle school students.
