US Little League champions hail from Chicago

-

The first-ever all-African-American Little League champions came from Chicago’s South Side this year, the Jackie Robinson West team. And although they lost the championship game to the team from South Korea, Chicagoans took great pride in their boys of summer, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Coverage of the final game is here.

We join President Barack Obama in extending congratulations as well to the 13 boys on the team on a great run this summer. They became the first team from Chicago to advance to the Little League World Series in 30 years.

Alone on the field,
They faced elimination,
Success yet to come.

Integrity, class,
On Jackie Robinson West.
Cherish the future.
