Principal stars in snow day video in Howard Co.

An elementary school principal in Howard County, Maryland, takes advantage of a school that last weekend’s record-breaking blizzard in the Baltimore-Washington corridor emptied of students to produce a video that has gone viral, the Baltimore Sun reports.

It all started when Waterloo Elementary School’s Sean Martin sought to thank the school’s custodial staff for coming into school on a snow day—and make his staff laugh a little and wish his students a happy snow day—but the video he posted, in which he does the Risky Business dance and takes backward granny shots in the school gym, has gone viral, receiving thousands of hits in just a few days.

“I figured people are starting to feel a little stir crazy, and I thought our staff and community would appreciate a lighthearted perspective about what goes on in school during snow days,” the Sun quoted him as saying. He’s been a Howard County principal for 11 years. “I posted it to my staff first and before I realized it, I had all these hits. And I was like, How did this get this out there?”

Students seem to have appreciated the humor. “Looks like you had fun Mr. Martin!!” wrote one first grader in Ms Shapiro’s class, adding a few exclamation marks at the end.
