Four people were injured by gunfire Wednesday morning after a fight broke out at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, CNN reports.
One victim was a male student, who was transported to a hospital and underwent surgery. Although he was in ICU, doctors expected him to recover fully.
Two other victims were adults, one male and one female, and both were in good condition. A fourth person had light injuries and declined medical treatment.
The suspect was taken into custody after he left the school in a vehicle following the shooting. He will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
Arlington Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at about 9:15 Wednesday morning; a few police officers who were already in the school at the time of the shooting were able to assist, Mr Kolbye said.
About 1700 students were in the building at the time of the shooting, and all were evacuated safely, police said.
Police also warned that they have been monitoring an increasing level of threats and other suspicious commentary posted on social media sites about the school.
